Is shoulder pain holding you back? Having trouble in lifting your arm or reaching behind your back? You might be dealing with a common issue known as rotator cuff tendinopathy but good news is, physiotherapy can help you recover and get back to doing your day to day activities without pain.

The rotator cuff comprises of four muscles and their tendon that help stabilise shoulder joint and allow for controlled movement of arm. Rotator cuff muscles are Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus , Teres minor and Subscapularis . The ,main action of rotator cuff muscles are stabilization, rotation and assist with arm elevation and controlling its motion during dynamic movements. Rotator cuff tendinopathy is a common source of shoulder pain particularly in individuals who perform repetitive overhead activities such as athletes and manual workers. It involves wear and tear or inflammation of the rotator cuff tendons (most commonly the supraspinatus ) and is often associated with subacromial impingement.

Typical symptoms include a dull ache in shoulder , pain when lifting your arm or reaching overhead, weakness or stiffness and sleep disturbances. Physiotherapy is the primary treatment for rotator cuff tendinopathy. A structured rehab plan can relieve pain, restore shoulder function and prevent recurrence -all without the need for surgery. Recovery time depends on severity and duration of symptoms, as well as your commitment to rehabilitation program. Mild cases typically improves within 6-8 weeks while chronic cases may take 3-6 months. The key is early treatment and a well structured rehab plan.

Physiotherapy offers a comprehensive, long term solution by addressing the root cause-not just the symptoms. Need help with your shoulder pain ?
