Are you dealing with elbow pain but unsure what’s causing it? You’re not alone. One of the most common causes of elbow pain we see at Dalton Physiotherapy is a condition called tennis elbow. Despite the name, you don’t have to play tennis to get it! It often affects people who use their arms and hands repetitively at work, DIY tasks, gardening or in the lifting in the gym.
Tennis elbow is a condition that affects the tendons on the outside of your elbow, where the forearm muscles attach. These tendons can become irritate from repetitive or overloaded movements, particularly gripping, lifting or twisting tasks. Over time, this can lead to small changes in the tendon tissues, resulting in pain, reduced grip strength, and sensitivity around the elbow.
At Dalton Physiotherapy we can help you not only reduce your elbow pain, but also restore full strength and function, and help prevent the problem from returning. Treatment plans are tailored to your needs and options may include:
Activity modification
Manual therapy
Dry needling
And once symptoms settle, rebuilding strength
Gradual return to full activity or sport
Tennis elbow can be frustrating, but with the right approach it’s very treatable and you can get back to full activity without pain. If you’re experiencing elbow pain, book an appointment at Dalton Physiotherapy online at www.daltonphysio.ie or call us on 01-9081101.
